camp benzon

Have you ever been camping at kawau island  before?

Well this term the year six’s went on a camp to kawau island. When we got to sandspit we had morning tea. All of the year six’s wanted to sit on the top of the fairy but they didn’t realize it was going to be cold that's why some of us went down stairs. After that we all went upstairs to perform a haka to peter and eran who own the island.

When we got off we went for a hike up this very deep and high mountain, it was actually a forest. Mr Jacobson showed us some off the huts that people had built a long time ago from our school, then Hendrex put a stone on top off this tall as rock thing, he did a speech a thank you one like the kids from pt england school does.
There are only 4 groups that are a and b. one group is kawau, mention, kats and benzon. I was in mention and our group was the best and funniest.

When we walked back it was so exhausting i wanted to sleep for ages. The nexted day we had a rotation of dry and wet games we all had to play. The funny part was when akosita got stuck in some bushes and some fell into her kakiak, now her nickname is bushsita.

The scariest part of dry games were when we had to climb up this tall as rock climbing thing. It was so frightening going down it felt like your hands were on fire to my hands turned black a lot.

At the end of camp benzon we had our consite night. Lots off people thought that our dance was pretty funny cause the girls acted like boys and the boys acted like girls the fake girls were the funniest.

The funniest day ever.

Have you ever had a writing test before?

This term on the 29th of october room 6, 7 and 8’s literacy class is having a writing test. We only have 40 minutes so we have to keep writing, after that  Mrs somerville said do your best at the test so i am trying my hardest to write as well as i did before.

Before school started our teachers had something made for us, so we can write about it. What our teachers had made for us was some soft nice cream on some weetbix, and some apples. We all had to get into two buddies, my buddie was aysha. When we started the people who were eating had to put there hands behind their backs and the other one who wasn’t eating had to put their hands into our our arms, then start eating, i think we had like one minute to start eating. There only could be four boys and four girls.

It was so funny the cream went up my nose, anyways me my buddie had actually won like we haven’t  won before for but yeah it still was cool and funny at the same time. Then it was time to swap over. When we first started i felt anxious because there were lots of people and kids playing it as well, i didn’t care as long as everybody had fun like i did it was so funny.

My friends are very funny cause like lots of them had shoved it into their buddies faces and rushing them to eat it, some had dropped everything and some just dropped there apple.  It was very “disgusting” because it was mixed with weetbix, cream and apple.

My favorite part about that was watching my friend shove the weetbix in their buddies faces “ Hahaha”. I laughed so hard i nearly cried. Also i really wanted to say thank you to all the teachers but i was still laughing. When we were done all of us ran inside instead of helping our teachers but some of the kids helped. It was an amazing day and it was very entertaining for us kids. “ Thank you teachers for doing that for us”. We are so thankful for yous...

My holiday writing

Have you ever been to Riverside camp?

Well this year the Riverside group has gone to Willow park, when i was getting ready to go camp i asked my mum for the time and she said 7:55 “am”. My brother said it was daylight savings, so i was late. My dad said we were going to make it but when we left to go to school where the bus was picking the group up it had just left when the bus left i felt so upset cause i missed the bus. We went home and stayed home then this man came to pick me up for camp his name was Dave, he was a friend of Mr Burt.

There were eight groups four boys and four girls groups. The boys groups names were, the R4BZ, Tanz, submarines and the BWA. The girls groups names were called the mufasa, pumba, flavas and C.O.G stands for children of god.

After morning tea we played games at the beach. Me and my cousin Mele built a mud pool we had to explain it to the group. We said that this mud pool represents where we come from. After that we took a photo of our group standing next to our portrait.

After that we had lunch and played more beach games, then  after the beach we had free time. Lots of kids went for showers and some just went to play. Then we went into the chapel. The chapel is like church where we do activities and learn more about Jesus and God. Then we went for dinner.

In the morning we had to read a book that was like the bible, before we had breakfast. It showed the scripture that we had to read every day and what were our activities. After that we had breakfast and then went for fitness. On the last day i didn’t like it because we had to run up this long step were other people did fitness.

On the second to last day we played a game that involved coloured plastic balls and a canon of foam The cannon of foam spread everywhere. When the activities started we had to listen to the instructions
or we might have an accident. I didn’t like the foam because it kept going in my mouth. I was covering my mouth with my t-shirt.

My favorite part of camp was when we were dancing to the disco and playing crunchie
hunt, my friend Machelle got the mosts cunchie. If you go to willow park you will never want to go back home?

Eating worms

WALT: find out the difference of worms and noodles.

Room 8 literacy class had an experience about eating worms. Our teacher is so crazy because she let us eat worms. Our teacher gives us crazy things to eat.

We got raw worms from in a packet  we put the worms into a bowl. Then we put some chicken flavor onto the raw worms then we put hot water into the bowl then we all have to wait until it gets soggy. When the worms are soggy we started to mix the worms in the bowl.

Once the worms were ready our teacher got tongs she put some worms into the tongs she suddenly put it in our mouths. As soon as the worms grouped into our mouths is wiggled everywhere. Everybody was looking at other people eating there worms.

I think worms are nice to eat. I also think that they are the most delicious thing to eat in the world. The worms are nice and warm and they are not dirty and ugly.

Exponents follow up 2

Walt: Use two strategies to solve number problems

Today the exponents are learning to use To strategies to solve problems.

584 + 845 = 1429                   584 + 845= 1429
5 + 8 = 13                             1429 - 845 = 584
84 + 45 = 129

27 + 47 = 74                          27 + 47 = 74
20 + 40 = 60                         74 - 47 = 27
7 + 7 = 14
60 + 14 = 74

Grass to Glass - part one

Cows eat 70 kilograms of grass a day,or during winter the farmer would make silage. The cows would need to eat this massive amount of grass to produce milk and keep healthy.70 kilograms is as twice as heavy as me.

Cows have four stomachs, to break down and digest the grass into little pieces. The half digested grass gets burped back up and the cows have to chew it again for 1 minute. Some of the grass gets made into milk and some of the grass gets pooped out.

Milking happens twice a day, early in the morning and late at night. They can never be missed out or they can have an infection.

Now days milking machines do all the hard work, so it is an easy job for the farmer. Do you know 1 cow can give 30 liters of milk. It takes 7 to 8 minutes to milk each cow.
